What is Live-in Care?

Live-in care is a form of home care service that provides continuous, support to individuals in their own homes. With live-in care, a dedicated caregiver resides in the individual's home, ensuring that they have access to assistance and companionship at all hours of the day or night.

Live-in Care vs Nursing Home Care

Live-in care is an alternative to residential care as it provides 24-hour support so you or your loved one can remain in the home that they love and provides the support that allows them to continue to the live the way they choose.

People are nearly a third more likely to fall in any one year if they’re in a residential or nursing home, compared to living at home, with live-in care.

It is not easy to acknowledge or even to see for yourself when daily life becomes quite a struggle. As a relative, you may observe small changes that may indicate that your relative is not coping.

Signs may include a loved one looking unkempt in themself, or the home looking untidy when previously they looked neat and tidy in their appearance, or the home looked clean and tidy. They may seem small changes to some at the same time these changes may begin to ring alarm bells as it could suggest they are struggling with personal care due to a multitude of issues from mobility, not eating and losing weight or confusion.

We know that good, daily personal hygiene is important for health and wellbeing, to prevent illness and infection. It is also important to note that some people who require assistance with personal care do not need a live-in carer, as they may only need support with one or two daily activities. We are happy to discuss and assess yours or your relative’s needs at a time and place that suits all involved.
